Building explosions is complex and time consuming process. In this course, Explosions with Maya and FumeFX, you will learn how to take a common shot in production, (a helicopter being shot down to the ground) and will concentrate on the main hit in the air, and all the way until it hits the ground and explodes. You will learn many different techniques and emission methods, timing, scale, creating sparks, and rendering it all with the Blackbody shader in Arnold. Finally, you will get more out of your renders in Nuke and comp it all together. After this course, you will have a good understanding on how to approach such a big shot and learn different techniques to create these effects. Software required: Maya 2017, FumeFX4 for Maya, Nuke.

Hi everyone, my name is Joel Berg and welcome to my course Explosions with Maya and Fume FX.

I am a Vancouver based FX Artist and freelancer, previously from studios such as MPC and Prime Focus and have experience on many award winning films.

Explosions are very common effects in film. Everyone loves explosions, and there are plenty of ways to go about making these FX.

Some of the major topics that we will cover include:

  • Creating different types of explosions
  • Techniques to add interest to your FX
  • Rendering in Arnold
  • Slampcomping it all together in Nuke
By the end of this course, you’ll know how to create and render interesting explosions efficiently, and skills you can take with you for your own FX. And finally to composite it all together.

Before beginning the course you should be familiar with Maya and Fume FX, and have a basic understanding of rendering in Arnold and compositing in Nuke.

I hope you'll join me on this path and learn how to create explosions with this course on topwallpaper Explosions With Maya And FumeFX.
