Description

Do you design unique parts and tool, but face challenges making the physical part? In this course, SOLIDWORKS - Preparing Designs for Sand Casting, you'll explore sand casting and final machining processes. Having a better understanding of these manufacturing methods will help you create better designs for sand casting. First, you'll learn the basic concepts of sand casting design, and explore the ins and outs of parting orientation. Next, you'll dive into some techniques, including tolerance calculation, tolerance stacking, and use of fillets and chamfers. Finally, you'll discover the mysteries of draft angles and how to apply shrink rates. By the end of this course, you'll know how to take conceptual part designs and prepare them for manufacturing via sand castings. Software required: SOLIDWORKS.

Hi everyone, my name is Max de Arriz and welcome to my course solidworks-preparing-designs-for-sand-casting.

I am a Manufacturing Engineer at Dixon Valve.

Throughout my time engineering, I have needed to figure out new ways to make things, sometimes in quantities which aren’t conducive for fully machines designs. Enter in Sand Casting.

In this course, we are going to unlock the preparatory skills require turning your ideal design into a model brimming with casting tooling potential.

Some of the major topics that we will cover include:

  1. Parting Orientation
  2. Tolerance Calculations
  3. Shrink Rates
By the end this course, you’ll know how to prepare a design for sand casting.

Before beginning the course, you should familiarize yourself with the anatomy of a basic sand casting mold. From there let this course and more help you learn the details you need to make the casting magic happen.

From here, you should feel comfortable diving into [topic title] with courses on:
  1. Parting Orientation
  2. Tolerance Calculations
  3. Shrink Rates
I hope you’ll join me on this journey to learn Casting Design Techniques with the solidworks-preparing-designs-for-sand-casting] course, at topwallpaper.
